This is not a carry item , but something that I found very interesting. I needed a radio for work, I liked the Bose SoundWave but hated the high price. A friend showed me his retro looking radio and then blew my doors off with its amazing sound. I just had to get one. I got a Model One from Tivoli that has an Aux input (not all Model One's have it), I couldn't be happier with any radio and the cost was 1/3 that of the bose. This isn't a commercial for them, I just like to share when I find a great deal with gool value. Don't even get me started on my Mac...

i must agree. i picked up a songbook... and for a 1 speaker unit, it rivals that of a 2 speaker stereo.

my other favorite is the cambridge soundworks model 80.. anyone know where i can find another one of those? O0

The model one is ok I guess, but it has a boominess which is good for most music, but that I don't like for voice.

I find that when listening to talk on the Tivoli model one I like to stand it on end and cover the hole in the bottom
(the vented speaker) with a piece of duct tape -- this cuts the bass enough to more it more listenable with talk..

also it doesn't get a weak jazz station around 88.1 fm that my ccrane radio does get..

the aux input is useful too.

I've got a Tivoli SongBook and have been really happy with it. It may not be the "best" sounding of the Tivoli line, but it's portability, features and weather resistant finish make it nice package. Also, for my listening laziness, it's nice just to have station presets rather than spinning a tuning dial. I keep a set of 2300mAh Ni-Mh's in it and get about a week of use before a recharge is necessary.

I continue to be impressed by my Cambridge Soundworks 88CD. That thing sounds great! Glad I got one before it was discontinued.
