Might change the Cross to an Inka sometime and try to get a slimmer butane lighter. The Fenix will give way to a Jet-I when it arrives.

Basically, I feel these items have/will come in handy in various situations. I've used the Fenix obviously for checking PC internals, car engine bay etc.., Glo-toob as marker when walking on dim back streets, Leatherman for cutting and filing, Lighter to start fires and light cigarettes, Cross Ion to write, mobile to make calls and text (obviously :P).. The only thing I haven't used is the whistle, but I can see it coming in handy to attract attention and scare off potential rowdies.

That Butane lighter on your keychain. What is that? That appears to be very small.

Hi Jon,

The butane lighter is quite 'big' in real life.. its 3/4 the length of a glo-toob and slightly fatter. It was bought from Emilion's old site; it's supposed to have a 4-LED head on the other end which I've removed. I'm only using the lighter end.

are you worried about ruining your car's ignition mechanism? I've read that overloading the car key will eventually ruin the ignition..

What are the "glowstickies"?

I didn't know that it would hurt the ignition switch....hmmm
I guess we are learning about things we edc and the problems involved.

Glowstickies are minature tritium vials.

I dont think so. I've googled for this, and it seems that they are custom made glow-powder vials made by a cpf member..

Jon: I've read that the weight messes up the internals of the ignition lock. Seems to be a reasonably common occurance.

oops..I thought glowstickies were tritium as well....

I will start to be more careful of how loaded my keys are.

Seriously? I didn't know the ignition switch could be affected so easily. The key seems to fit in snugly and it would take maybe a kilogram of stuff to actually make it seem unsafe :P

My stuff ain't too heavy anyhow...

Glowstickies are made by yours truly. Plastic tubes loaded with glowpowder. Cheap tritium alternatives :P Gave a blank tube to someone who wanted to put a tritium vial inside; don't know how that turned out though :)

LEDcandle---Let me know if you plan to offer any of your glowstickies on the forum. If so, I'm in for a few.

The weight of the keyring/gear on the ignition cylinder will cause premature wear to the internal components. At worst, the ignition cylinder will jam in the on or off position. Other problems would be that the key is able to be removed while the vehicle is running, it may take a bit of jiggling of the key to turn the cylinder or someone elses key may operate the vehicle. My old work van could be started with a slotted screwdriver because of wear.

Hi JMV and pipedreams!

Are you guys from CPF?
My old post offering glowstickies is here :- http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?p=1319383#post1319383

I've closed it for now but I have enough material to make more. Just take a look see and gimme a holler at kryndal2@ yahoo.co.uk (close up space) for what you need. The prices are more or less as per the post, but I will cut a little here and there or add accessories etc... Feel free to ask me questions or get a quote etc...

Thanks!

Cool EDC! :)

I keep my car keys on a small screwgate krab so I can remove it when driving.
It is in the centre of this pic....

Everything on my keychain is detachable except my keys which are supposed to be the 'mainstay'.
I think I have to make it detachable too to save my ignition ;D

It's a "Top Power" pouch; bought it from a local store in Singapore.
It has a main compartment with a netting pocket inside, and a front zipped compartment, also with a netting pocket lined inside.

RE: Heavy Key Ring and ignition switch.

You betcha heavy key chain (My Sister for example) is TOUGH on the cylinder part of the switch!

I have a loose key for my Ram that NEVER leaves the truck. I fob it locked and unlocked and my heavy key chain hangs from a belt loop for now (until I can get a Maxpedition Keeper or two).

The key DOES get taken out of the ignition and put in the cubby in the dash...
