gadget guy,
I have an HP turbine blade and fuel control fly weight bearing from the SouiX City Iowa crash. I was working in an FAA repair station when the APU showed up for rebuild. I recognised the logbook dates after the teardown and decided to hang on to a couple of pieces if history. The bearing is on my keychain and the blade in my watch box. The engine obviously got sent back in pieces with a no thanks note attached.

I've heard of people collecting glass insulators...but Turbine Blades is a first for me. Where do you store such a collection, and how does one beging collecting turbine blades?
Well... It started out with me looking for titanium items for my keychain on Ebay. I saw a titanium turbine blade and was a little curious, so I ordered one and I was hooked from there on. I no longer keep them on my keychain (replaced by Prybaby), but I have a dedicated tool box that I store my collection in. There are so many different types that it makes for a fun and unusual collection. The prices on Ebay are a Joke now, so I don't buy too much anymore...
Well, besides knives, guns, flaslights, PDA's, I am a nature photographer. I got my first camera when I was 7 or 8, and have been hooked since. Here are links to my photos:

Sea Fishing probably first and foremost, mainly from the shore but will get on a boat whenever the chance arrises.
Golf as often as I can - which in a good month is probably twice as it is very expensive to play out here.
Had my first go at clay pigeon shoting last weekend and loved it so would like to try and add that into the mix.
Back home in the UK I used to go Camping a lot, less chance here but I go when I can.
Used to play a lot of airsoft, but mainly as an excuse to collect tac gear. I don't play any more and left the Tac gear back in the UK as it probably wasn't wise to move to the middle east, with a shipping container full of US made molle gear.
. . . and then of couse there is collecting shiny, bight and sharp things!
Bee

things that make light

sorry i havent posted in a while. either way... lets see. hobbies. hmmm, guitar, vocals, uhhh... sharp pointy objects of any kind. guns, tactical mods of pretty much anything. edc'ing of course, leatherwork, costuming (rennaisance festival or otherwise) carpentry, carving, fishing, kyaking, automotive work, camping, hiking, sword practice (one day, anyway... hopefully soon), sheet metal work, lanyards and paracord weaving, reading, trombone, tin whistle, video games, bicycles (and mods thereto, painting as well... current project. may post pics.) day dreaming lol, if i had the time and startup for alot of this stuff on a constant basis, id take up welding or brazing (brazing is the most peaceful form of playing with fire), archery, bargain hunting, dumpster diving, id like to learn juggling, i spin fire occasionally, motorcycle riding, ehh... i want to say that about covers it... ohhh and spending more money than i have seems to be a good one too.

well, i've had a change of lfestyle recently.
between training with my volunteer fire department, hanging out wth my little brother (Big Brother, Big Sister), and training for a triathlon, I don't have much time for hobbies. Fortunately, all of these activities are so rewarding that I count them as hobbies, too =0P

Knife throwing-only club in the UK, would love to hear about any other US members on here as i understand it's much more popular over there!
@rabidchicken
Those look like some very fun hobbies, especially the kiteboarding.
Sadly, I don't really have any outdoor hobbies anymore. It's something I hope to remedy in the future.

Years ago enjoyed photography, shortwave radio, scanner radio, cartooning, reading SF and Fantasy, yoga, meditation, and Qigong. Built some electronic kits also.
But unfortunately over the past few years I've fallen off the wagon and haven't been able to make time for them.

hobbies?
i love to read,
i shoot - shotgun (both clays and hunt),
i airsoft (i know, i know, but its at least some fitness too...!),
i have just started exercising (semi) regurlarly again after around 18 months of giving up the gym to afford a house,
i have started krav maga which i really enjoy.
i rather fancy cooking alot more too. im not bad now, but rather 'traditional' i suppose. healthier eating combined with new ideas really appeals to me.

i love cooking for the lady and her mom. guess that's a necessity though since we all trade days cooking.
i love muay thai, mixed martial arts, traditional martial arts, and enjoying a nice cigar a few times a month.
for anyone else who lights up, give the CAO traviata maduro divino a shot. a quality smoke for 7 bucks or so. my preferred flavor aside from the CAO brazilia.

Reading, generally non fiction, fantasy/sci-fi. I will read almost anything---the only thing I will give shelf space to is non fiction. I truly believe that one of the best things a parent can do for a child is to try to instill a love of reading. If you can read and comprehend what you are reading, you can learn almost anything.
BTW, I read much better than I write.
Bicycling and bike commuting.
Surfing the web, I'm an information junkie.

I've been studying Tanimura-ha Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu for about 10 years. Big movie and music nut. I used to do some climbing, not so much since having a kid. A doodler more than anything when it comes to drawing. Raising the awesomest daughter on the planet is more of a passion than a hobby.

Travel...travel and more travel!
I have a BAD travel bug - and have spent more time traveling around the US & Canada in the last 4 months than I have here! (I have made 4 trips across in 4 months - as I have to come back for work in between)
Cycling is my other hobby - try to combine it when overseas but usually ends up being on a spin bike in the hotel gym.
Also love swimming..laps laps and more laps :)
Biggest hobby..directly related to my travel bug is chasing the remaining Space Shuttle launches since STS-131 in April last year :) (expensive hobby but oh so very worth it)
So the travel also ties in nicely with EDC - although what I carry around now is a lot different to what I first carried as EDC!

I have more things I enjoy than time or money to really enjoy all of them!
Guns and airsoft- I've never gotten out to an airsoft skirmish, but they're fun to plink around with.
Knives
Flashlights
Zippos- I know a few tricks, and it keeps me amused from time to time.
Reading- I wish I read more. I'm a big fan of Tom Clancy and Star Wars, but haven't read any in a while. I also love reading about history, especially American wars.
Gadgets and gizmos- This is the cause for most of these hobbies. I just like gadgets.
Sports- I did 2 in high school (can you guess either of them? :winkwink: ), I root for most Ohio teams, and I love to get outside and play.
Debating- Nothing formal, but I love to get into a good honest debate.
Fishing/Hunting- Only hunted a few times, and go fishing mostly when on vacation. I love being outside in the peace and quiet.
Legos- This has faded some since I graduated high school, but I enjoy building and playing with Legos, especially Star Wars and the old Wild West sets.

For those who have never made their own, Homebrewing (http://www.groupon.com/deals/midwest-hydro-ocala?utm_medium=afl&utm_campaign=3668349&utm_source=rvs) can be really fun. (It's just as big a money hog as EDC, if not bigger) This is the cheapest I've ever seen a starter kit, and Midwest is a reputable store.

This is very similar to what I was going to say. I'm going to expand your list to represent mine.
Training in Martial Arts - Currently studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Aikido.
Tinkering - I tinker with anything. I love to fix things and to figure out how things work.
Computers - I do hobby programming, and run Linux and FreeBSD servers at home.
Collecting gear/gadgets - Not much to say here. I love all types of EDC.
And work! haahaa - Uggh next;
Oh yeah....
Guns - Love my guns, currently looking at a kel-tec pf9 or the p-11.
Airsoft - I don't own any of the airsoft guns that shoot plastic bbs, but I've owned BB guns since I was 10 years old.
SD - What is this??
Only thing I would add to this is:
Fishing and the outdoors. I love to fish and hike/explore.

If playing computer games can be a considered a hobby-yeah...
Other "hobbies"-reading (I like reading sci-fi novels and history or biology books especially), collecting watches (my folks think I'm insane, LOL).Let's see...what else ? Hmmmm....fishing-haven't done that in ten years, but still have the knowledge and tools; EDC(of course, I wouldn't be here otherwise, right ?).Does solving crosswords or playing backgammon and other society games count ? :)

Buying, refurbishing and (sometimes) selling used Panasonic Toughbooks of all types. I have about 12-14 on hand right now, plus a couple other makes (Dolch, Getac and Itronix), so if anyone is interested.....? Love to go shooting when I can push myself to go to the range. Listening to audio books, especially Stuart Woods, Clive Cussler, and Steven King. Making up lies, no, make that excuses to the wife for the growing number of EDC gear in the man cave. This stuff seems to have a life of its own and breeds in the dark when I am not around....
